Capability / Project scope

Folding & fabrication

A clear route from flat material to formed parts and assemblies.

Plan the shape, then the complete route.

A folded component needs more than a flat outline. A scope conversation connects the intended form with the material specification, visible faces, mating parts and the assembly sequence. Joining and finishing should be identified early, even when supplied separately.

What to bring to a review

  1. The formed part drawing and the current revision, using an agreed secure route.
  2. Material specification, blank supply responsibilities and requested quantities.
  3. The relationship between components, critical faces and joining requirements.
  4. The intended finish, assembly responsibilities and inspection expectations.

Agree the responsibilities

The customer identifies the design requirements and the person responsible for approving them. A manufacturer reviews the proposed production route, flags questions and confirms what is included in writing. A website description is not acceptance of a specification.

Material suitability, achievable features, inspection requirements, pricing and timing require a project-specific review. No dimensional range, tolerance, machine capacity or certification is stated in this demonstration.

What falls outside this example

This scope does not include engineering design, structural assessment, regulated product approval or an automatic quotation. Specialist finishing, external processing and material procurement must be separately confirmed rather than assumed.

Connected capabilities

Start with a consistent blank.

If cutting and forming are being discussed together, identify the source drawing and revision that governs both stages.

A useful first enquiry sets out the material, quantity and work you want to discuss.
