The brief.
A home for everyday use, with one generous shared room rather than a collection of smaller, disconnected spaces. The concept keeps the kitchen and dining area close to the entrance and gives the living room a view across a planted courtyard.
The layout is deliberately straightforward. Short circulation routes leave more room for furniture and make it possible to change how the space is used over time.
This is a fictional design study. The image is licensed illustrative material; the drawing is an original schematic and does not document the photographed property.
A plan with room
to change.
- 01
A clear arrival
An entrance with a place for coats, away from the main seating area.
- 02
One shared outlook
Kitchen, dining and living spaces each connect to the courtyard.
- 03
A quiet material palette
Timber, warm white surfaces and fabrics with different textures.
From plan to detail.
A window reveal is also a shelf. A low storage unit becomes a place to sit. These small decisions are considered alongside the overall plan, so the interior feels useful before anything is added for decoration.
