About Sunday House
Sunday House is a six-page hotel and guesthouse template built around room information and a direct stay enquiry. Navy type, an ivory background, a Caslon wordmark and an original arched-door mark give it a quiet house-stationery identity. Room photographs sit beside capacities, bed types and useful stay details, rather than a carousel or a generic hotel booking widget.
Best suited to: Small hotels, guesthouses and independent stays that need clear room comparisons and a lightweight enquiry route.

What’s in the design
- Home introduces the house with an original door mark, a large bedroom photograph, room previews and practical visiting information.
- Rooms compares three sample room types, with capacity, bed and floor-area facts. Guest-count filters keep only rooms with enough capacity: all three fit two guests; the House Suite fits three.
- Garden Double is one complete separate room page with photographs, amenities and stay notes. Cosy Double and House Suite have inline details on the Rooms page.
- The local image viewer supports Previous/Next, arrow keys, Escape and focus restoration. It follows the visible filtered room set; full image links work without JavaScript.
- The house page covers shared spaces, breakfast and sample policies. Visit includes arrival details and a date-aware stay enquiry draft, with an optional external booking-provider link.
- Libre Caslon Text, Public Sans and all responsive photographs are local. Sample photos are credited to Francesca Tosolini and do not represent one actual hotel.

How stay enquiries and booking work
The enquiry validates name, email, arrival/departure dates and room capacity, then prepares an encoded email draft. Departure must follow arrival. Nothing is sent, stored or booked, and room availability is not checked. The visitor opens the draft in a configured email app, reviews it and sends it themselves. Without JavaScript a direct email link remains available.
The [email protected] recipient is reserved sample data and cannot receive mail. Replace it before launch. Configure an optional HTTPS bookingURL in src/site.ts to replace the form with an external availability link. No booking engine, payments or inventory integration is included.
Set up the Astro edition
Extract the source ZIP and run these commands from its folder:
npm ci
npm run dev
npm run check
npm run build
The build produces a dist/ folder for static hosting. The source includes its shared template kit under vendor/template-kit, so it builds independently of our development workspace. Astro 7.4.4 and the Astro checker 0.9.12 are pinned; TypeScript 6.0.3 is the latest supported by that checker’s declared peer range.
Before you launch
- Choose HTML for direct file editing or Astro for shared layouts and source-driven content.
- Replace the fictional identity, email, address and room facts/policies with accurate information and properly licensed photographs.
- Edit src/site.ts for room data and optional HTTPS booking/directions links.
- Replace image variants, intrinsic dimensions in src/images.json, alt text and asset credits when changing photography.
- Replace the reserved .example recipient. The enquiry prepares a draft only; connect a separately tested backend if direct delivery is needed.
- Set PUBLIC_SITE_URL to the real domain/folder URL with a trailing slash when building Astro. This generates canonical/social URLs, robots.txt and a 5-page sitemap. Leave PUBLIC_PREVIEW unset for production.
- Upload the complete HTML folder or Astro dist/ contents. Configure the host to return 404.html with HTTP 404 for unknown URLs.
A static guesthouse website with no room inventory, live availability, payments, booking confirmation or message-delivery backend. One room has a separate detail page; two room types have inline descriptions.
License and assets
The original template code is released under the included MIT license. It permits personal and commercial use; retain the license notice when redistributing the code. Visible footer attribution is optional.
All four sample photographs are by Francesca Tosolini under the Unsplash License. They are illustrative interiors, not images documenting one actual property or its listed room specifications. Libre Caslon Text and Public Sans use the SIL Open Font License. The original door mark and code are MIT licensed. Unsplash License. Full asset credits.
Release verification
Both release archives were extracted and inspected. Each standalone source passed a clean npm ci, Astro check and production build outside our workspace, and its HTML output matched the HTML edition byte for byte. Optional external provider links and production metadata were tested in the extracted source. All pages fit a 320px viewport. Local Lighthouse runs across all pages on mobile and representative desktop pages scored 99–100 performance and 100 automated accessibility; these are lab results, not a full accessibility certification.
