About Common Ground School

Common Ground School is an adult language-school template with three complete course pages and conventional school navigation. The course collection brings purpose and delivery format into clear view, while Dates & Fees separates recurring weekly schedules from sample block prices. Each course describes its learning focus, lesson hours, materials and exclusions before the course-specific enquiry route.

Best suited to: Small adult-language schools and independent learning providers maintaining a limited course collection and discussing suitability before enrolment.

What’s in the design

  • General English, English for Work and Evening Conversation each have a separate full course page with purpose, sample level range, delivery format, weekly hours, block length, included materials and exclusions.
  • Courses combines goal and format filters with allowed query preselection, result counts, an empty state and reset. Course cards always link to their own included detail pages.
  • Dates & Fees contains a captioned weekly schedule and sample total fees. The time-of-day selector separates daytime/evening examples, and the print action presents the schedule and fee information.
  • General English illustrates ten hours per week across four weeks; English for Work four hours per week across six weeks; Evening Conversation two hours per week across six weeks. These are example arrangements, not available places.
  • Course-specific enquiry links preselect an allowed course. Name and email are required; optional start month, delivery preference and a question help frame the discussion. JavaScript sets the earliest month to the current month.
  • The template uses useful school, access and learner FAQs without asserting accreditation, automatic placement, guaranteed fluency, examination outcomes or teacher credentials.

Verified page layouts

These 9 pages are included in both archives. Each link opens the live preview.

How course enquiries and sample schedules work

Course and schedule filters act on the three included sample records. They do not check live dates, places, learner levels or eligibility. Sample fees apply to the stated block; the school must publish and confirm accurate total fees and terms.

The enquiry accepts an allowed course ID and uses native name/email validation. Visitors can add a preferred start month, format and optional question. Sensitive personal information should not be entered.

Submit creates an encoded email draft only. Nothing is sent or stored, and no enrolment or place is confirmed. Replace [email protected] before launch; the reserved mailbox cannot receive mail.

Set up the Astro edition

Extract the source ZIP and run these commands from its folder:

npm ci
npm run dev
npm run check
npm run build

The build produces a dist/ folder for static hosting. The source includes its shared template kit under vendor/template-kit, so it builds independently of our development workspace. Astro 7.4.4 and the Astro checker 0.9.12 are pinned; TypeScript 6.0.3 is the latest supported by that checker’s declared peer range.

Before you launch

  • Choose HTML for direct file editing, or Astro for shared layouts and source-driven content.
  • Replace sample course arrangements, level descriptions, schedules, fees, terms, access information and school details with verified publishing-provider information.
  • Keep the three course IDs aligned across src/site.ts, course pages, schedule and Contact options. Test combined course filters, time-of-day filtering, print output and allowed course preselection.
  • Replace imagery with licensed material. Keep responsive variants, src/images.json dimensions, alt text and ASSETS.md credits aligned.
  • Set PUBLIC_SITE_URL to the real root/folder URL with a trailing slash for canonical/social metadata, robots.txt and a 8-page sitemap. Leave PUBLIC_PREVIEW unset for production.
  • Upload the complete HTML folder or Astro dist/. Configure unknown URLs to serve 404.html with HTTP 404. Verify email drafts or connect a separately tested delivery backend.

A static course collection with no live enrolment, availability check, placement assessment, learner account, payment processing, examination service or delivery backend. Level ranges, course blocks and fees are illustrative; no accreditation or outcome guarantee is implied.

License and assets

The original template code is released under the included MIT license. It permits personal and commercial use; retain the license notice when redistributing the code. Visible footer attribution is optional.

Classroom and study photographs are distributed under the separate Pexels License and do not document Common Ground premises, teachers or learners. Full photographer/source links are included in the asset credits and both downloads. Local font files retain complete SIL OFL notices; original code and identity are MIT. Pexels License. Full asset credits.

Release verification

All 9 pages fit a 320px viewport without horizontal document overflow. Enquiry validation, allowed preselection, encoded drafts, mobile-menu keyboard behavior and the template’s filters and other controls were checked. The exact standalone Astro ZIP passed clean install, check and build outside the workspace, producing HTML identical to the HTML edition. Local Lighthouse runs scored 99–100 performance and 100 automated accessibility/best practices; content-page SEO scored 100. These laboratory checks are not a full accessibility certification or real-user performance measurement.

Version 1.0.0, reviewed 30 October 2026. Live preview. Plain HTML checksum. Standalone Astro source checksum. Common Ground is a fictional adult language school. Course arrangements, level ranges, schedules, fees and office details are illustrative. No accreditation, learning outcome or enrolment is promised.
