About First Light Bakery
First Light Bakery is a ten-page bakery website built around a small product collection, practical visiting information and specific cake/catering enquiries. The sample menu makes the price unit visible beside each item. A complete sourdough page, food-information questions and separate gathering routes give people useful information before contacting the bakery.
Best suited to: Independent bakeries and small café/bakery businesses presenting a manually maintained menu, visit details and personal cake/catering enquiries.

What’s in the design
- The menu presents four illustrative products: House Sourdough, Butter Croissant, Morning Selection and Seasonal Celebration Cake. Category and text controls combine, with a live count, empty state and reset.
- House Sourdough has one full separate product page. Other products have descriptive menu cards; Cakes & Sharing and Catering provide dedicated enquiry information. No product stock or checkout is implied.
- Sample prices show their units: loaf, piece, six-piece selection or cake. Starting prices are explicitly illustrative; selection, availability and total cost require confirmation by the actual bakery.
- Print uses the currently visible menu; reset the filters first to print all four examples. Full menu content is available without JavaScript. Food choices require the real business’s current product and ingredient information.
- Food Information & FAQ distinguishes the demonstration descriptions from current ingredient/allergen declarations. It asks visitors to confirm the actual recipe, preparation, collection and storage arrangements with the business.
- Contact preselects an included product or catering subject, validates required name/email/question and supports an optional preferred date and approximate group size. It prepares a reviewable email draft rather than reserving food.

How bakery, cake and catering enquiries work
Product and catering links preselect an included enquiry subject. Required name, email and question fields use native validation. A preferred date and approximate group size frame the discussion; neither checks availability.
Submit creates an encoded email draft only. Nothing is sent, stored, reserved or ordered by the website. Visitors open an email app, review and send the draft themselves. Replace [email protected] before publishing.
The sample menu is not an ingredient list or allergen declaration. No free-from, dietary-suitability or cross-contact guarantee is made. Confirm actual written food information and arrangements directly with the publishing business.
Set up the Astro edition
Extract the source ZIP and run these commands from its folder:
npm ci
npm run dev
npm run check
npm run build
The build produces a dist/ folder for static hosting. The source includes its shared template kit under vendor/template-kit, so it builds independently of our development workspace. Astro 7.4.4 and the Astro checker 0.9.12 are pinned; TypeScript 6.0.3 is the latest supported by that checker’s declared peer range.
Before you launch
- Choose HTML for direct file editing, or Astro for shared layouts and source-driven content.
- Replace every product, price, unit, recipe/food-information statement, location and opening hour with accurate business information. Keep current product-specific ingredient/allergen information under the business’s reviewed process.
- Keep product IDs aligned with menu links and enquiry subjects. Test combined menu filters, print output, preselection, date/group validation and email drafts.
- Replace imagery with licensed content. Keep responsive variants, intrinsic dimensions, alt text and ASSETS.md credits aligned.
- Set PUBLIC_SITE_URL to the real domain/folder URL with a trailing slash for canonical/social metadata, robots.txt and a 9-page sitemap. Leave PUBLIC_PREVIEW unset for production.
- Upload the entire HTML folder or Astro dist/. Configure unknown paths to return 404.html with HTTP 404. Test enquiries or configure a separately tested delivery route if direct sending is required.
A static food-business website with no live inventory, ordering checkout, payment, confirmed collection, ingredient/allergen database or message-delivery backend. Product descriptions and photographs cannot establish dietary suitability.
License and assets

Release verification
The page inventory and screenshots document the included layouts. The HTML and independent Astro editions contain the same design, local assets and license notices. Build, browser and laboratory-audit evidence is kept with the release source. Automated scores do not establish complete accessibility compliance or guarantee performance after customization.
