About Fold & Press

Fold & Press uses mint, white and ink with coral accents, a conventional shop masthead and original hanger identity. A large typographic introduction leads to a broad garment photograph, horizontal service rows and a readable sample-price panel. The inner pages develop individual service scope and drop-off information.

Best suited to: Neighbourhood laundry and garment-care operators who want a clear service directory, readable price units and general enquiries.

What’s in the design

• Nine complete pages cover Home, Our Shop, Services, Wash & Fold, Dry Cleaning, Price Guide, Collection & Drop-off, Visit & Contact and 404.
• The six-record service directory combines category and case-insensitive keyword filters, with a live count, reset and empty state. All records remain visible without JavaScript.
• The nine-record sample GBP price guide combines category and garment filters. Every price states its per-item or per-load unit; no total, quote or order is calculated.
• Wash & Fold and Dry Cleaning have complete detail pages with scope, sample pricing basis, questions and contextual enquiry links. Other service categories lead to enquiries.
• Collection & Drop-off includes eight printable questions with writing lines. The print sheet is a conversation aid, not a receipt or instruction for cleaning a garment.
• The contact form validates required fields and prepares an explicit encoded multiline mailto draft. Query values are restricted to known select options, and edits clear an old draft.
• Native mobile navigation and direct email fallback work without enhancement. The form submit starts hidden and disabled until its handler is attached.

How Fold & Press enquiries work

The contact form prepares a visible email draft and a user-activated mailto link. This static website sends and stores no message. Replace [email protected] in the content and browser runtime before real use.

Visitors can select a service and garment or load, with an optional broad area. Exact addresses, access codes, payment details and private records are discouraged. Allowed service and garment query values can prefill the form.

The actual operator must inspect items and agree acceptance, method, scope, charges, timing and collection arrangements. An enquiry does not accept garments, place an order, confirm a price or schedule a pickup.

Set up the Astro edition

Extract the source ZIP and run these commands from its folder:

The build produces a dist/ folder for static hosting. The source includes its shared template kit under vendor/template-kit, so it builds independently of our development workspace. Astro 7.4.4 and the Astro checker 0.9.12 are pinned; TypeScript 6.0.3 is the latest supported by that checker’s declared peer range.

Before you launch

• Choose HTML for direct file editing, or Astro for shared layouts and source-driven content.
• Replace the example identity, email, address, hours and sample prices with verified operator details. Have the actual operator approve service scope, accepted items, charge units, access and collection information. Keep photographic imagery distinct from claims about actual premises or staff.
• Edit service records, price rows and printable questions in src/site.ts. Keep service IDs, category/item values, links and form options aligned. Test combined service and price filters, empty/reset states, print layout, allowed/unknown query values, native required/email validation, multiline draft encoding and clearing on input/change.
• Replace imagery with licensed content. Keep responsive variants, intrinsic dimensions, alt text and ASSETS.md credits aligned.
• Set PUBLIC_SITE_URL to the real domain/folder URL with a trailing slash for canonical/social metadata, robots.txt and a 8-page sitemap. Leave PUBLIC_PREVIEW unset for production.
• Upload the entire HTML folder or Astro dist/. Configure unknown paths to return 404.html with HTTP 404. Test enquiries or configure a separately tested delivery route if direct sending is required.

A static general-enquiry website without pickup scheduling, route tracking, order status, payment, live quotes, delivery arrangements, cleaning-method instructions, chemical advice or a messaging backend.

License and assets

The original template code is released under the included MIT license. It permits personal and commercial use; retain the license notice when redistributing the code. Visible footer attribution is optional.

Three garment and laundry photographs from Pexels are credited to RDNE Stock project, Tima Miroshnichenko and Татьяна Танатова, with exact source links and license information in both downloads. Fold Sans is an internally renamed Figtree WOFF2 subset derivative retaining the complete SIL OFL notice. Original code, copy and identity are MIT. Pexels License. Full asset credits.

Release verification

The page inventory, screenshots and download manifests document the included layouts and assets. The HTML and independent Astro editions contain the same design and license notices. Customization requires its own accessibility, content and performance checks.
