About Brookside Vets
Brookside Vets is a nine-page veterinary-practice template with petrol, sage and warm white, locally served Brookside Sans and a familiar navigation. Its homepage pairs dog and cat photography with practical service, first-visit and opening-hours routes. Inner pages explain appointment arrangements, questions about fees and practical access information without making clinical recommendations.
Best suited to: Independent veterinary practices presenting verified services, first-visit preparation, opening hours, access arrangements and general non-urgent enquiry information.

What’s in the design
- Services contains six written examples across Appointments, Care planning and Practical help. Category and text filters combine with an announced count, reset and empty state. All six entries remain visible without JavaScript.
- Consultations is a complete detail page covering appointment arrangements, scope and fee questions, proposed further work and follow-up information. Other service entries route to general enquiries or relevant practical guides.
- Your First Visit includes eight temporary checkboxes, a live checked count, Clear checks and Print checklist. The native FAQs expand for printing and restore their prior state afterwards; no deliberate persistence is used.
- Fees & Payment Arrangements presents a captioned questions table for consultation, follow-up, proposed further work and payment. Row and column headers and a keyboard-focusable scroll region support the table on small screens. No prices or payment plans are quoted.
- Visit Us separates illustrative hours and location from arrival/access questions. Its clearly marked urgent-contact section has no invented emergency number or operating service. A real practice must configure its checked urgent/out-of-hours route.
- Contact accepts only included service IDs for query preselection and checks required contact name, email and general question using native validation. It prepares an encoded mailto draft; editing a form field hides the obsolete draft.

How general practice enquiries work
The contact action prepares a reviewable email draft, which the visitor may open in an email app and choose whether to send. Nothing is transmitted, stored, registered or booked by the website. Replace [email protected] before use; the demonstration mailbox cannot receive messages.
The form is for general, non-urgent questions about services and practical arrangements. It does not request pet records or medical histories and is not a clinical intake or veterinary advice channel.
The urgent section is explicitly a configuration placeholder. The real practice must provide verified local urgent/out-of-hours contact information and keep it distinct from the general enquiry route.
Set up the Astro edition
Extract the source ZIP and run these commands from its folder:
npm ci
npm run dev
npm run check
npm run build
The build produces a dist/ folder for static hosting. The source includes its shared template kit under vendor/template-kit, so it builds independently of our development workspace. Astro 7.4.4 and the Astro checker 0.9.12 are pinned; TypeScript 6.0.3 is the latest supported by that checker’s declared peer range.
Before you launch
- Choose HTML for direct file editing, or Astro for shared layouts and source-driven content.
- Replace practice details, service scopes, hours, location, access arrangements and fee/payment information with verified facts. Configure the real mailbox and checked urgent/out-of-hours route. Add staff identities, registrations or professional credentials only when substantiated.
- Edit the six service records, checklist and questions in src/site.ts. Keep service IDs aligned with the enquiry select and links. Test combined category/text filtering, empty/reset, temporary checklist/print, allowed service preselection and edited-draft invalidation.
- Replace imagery with licensed content. Keep responsive variants, intrinsic dimensions, alt text and ASSETS.md credits aligned.
- Set PUBLIC_SITE_URL to the real domain/folder URL with a trailing slash for canonical/social metadata, robots.txt and a 8-page sitemap. Leave PUBLIC_PREVIEW unset for production.
- Upload the entire HTML folder or Astro dist/. Configure unknown paths to return 404.html with HTTP 404. Test enquiries or configure a separately tested delivery route if direct sending is required.
A static veterinary-practice website without veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment instructions, pet registration, medical records, appointment scheduling, live availability, payment, emergency response or a message-delivery backend.

Release verification
The page inventory, screenshots and download manifests document the included layouts and assets. The HTML and independent Astro editions contain the same design and license notices. Customization requires its own accessibility, content and performance checks.
