About Beacon Electrical
Beacon Electrical is a nine-page contractor template with ink, electrical yellow and white, squared buttons and locally served Beacon Sans, a renamed Barlow OFL derivative. A compact contact strip, conventional navigation and work photograph lead into structured service rows, two complete scopes and clear arrangements for an initial enquiry.
Best suited to: Independent electrical contractors presenting substantiated home and small-business services, project scope information, general coverage and enquiries.

What’s in the design
- Services lists four illustrative scopes: Lighting, Inspection enquiries, Renovation wiring and Workplace alterations. Home/business filters include the two scopes applicable to both settings, with announced count, reset and an industrial empty state.
- Lighting and Inspection Enquiries are complete detail pages. They separate topics to discuss, scope exclusions, enquiry inputs and matters requiring actual contractor assessment. Renovation and workplace scopes lead to a general enquiry.
- How We Agree the Work explains a practical sequence from initial conversation through scope review, written arrangements, planned work and handover. It makes no automatic quotation, price or availability calculation.
- Areas & Questions includes four expressly illustrative coverage records and FAQs about quotes, project information and the website’s limits. It promises no response time, accreditation or emergency attendance.
- Contact accepts allowed service and property query values, optional broad area and a required general question. It checks required contact name/email and displays an explicit reviewable email draft.
- All navigation and written content remain available without JavaScript. The optional filter is progressively exposed; native FAQs work independently and a direct email link remains available.

How contractor enquiries work
The contact action creates an encoded mailto draft for the visitor to review in an email app. Nothing is sent, stored, booked or accepted as a work order by the website. Replace [email protected] before publication.
The enquiry is general and non-urgent. It requests a broad area and property setting, not an exact home address, payment information or private records. A real contractor must agree an appropriate route for additional details.
Service/property selections accept included values only. An edited form hides its obsolete draft. Scope, technical suitability, credentials, price, timing and any applicable documentation must be confirmed by the actual contractor.
Set up the Astro edition
Extract the source ZIP and run these commands from its folder:
npm ci
npm run dev
npm run check
npm run build
The build produces a dist/ folder for static hosting. The source includes its shared template kit under vendor/template-kit, so it builds independently of our development workspace. Astro 7.4.4 and the Astro checker 0.9.12 are pinned; TypeScript 6.0.3 is the latest supported by that checker’s declared peer range.
Before you launch
- Choose HTML for direct file editing, or Astro for shared layouts and source-driven content.
- Replace service scopes, coverage, verified business identity and contact information with substantiated contractor facts. Publish professional registrations or insurance only after verification; describe exclusions and documentation responsibilities accurately.
- Edit service and coverage records and FAQs in src/site.ts. Keep audience values, service IDs and contact selections aligned. Test home/business/all/empty/reset, allowed service/property preselection, required validation and edited-draft invalidation.
- Replace imagery with licensed content. Keep responsive variants, intrinsic dimensions, alt text and ASSETS.md credits aligned.
- Set PUBLIC_SITE_URL to the real domain/folder URL with a trailing slash for canonical/social metadata, robots.txt and a 8-page sitemap. Leave PUBLIC_PREVIEW unset for production.
- Upload the entire HTML folder or Astro dist/. Configure unknown paths to return 404.html with HTTP 404. Test enquiries or configure a separately tested delivery route if direct sending is required.
A static contractor website with no electrical diagnosis, DIY instructions, compliance determination, legal inspection-frequency advice, emergency response, instant quote, scheduling, payment or message-delivery backend.
